I was recently awarded a Tryazon party for Gormet Souffle for their Instant Chocolate Souffle Kit. For the party I received a party pack that included:
- Gourmet Soufflé kits [2 large packages & 1 consumer size package]
- Paper ramekins
- Party Host Guide
- Exclusive coupons for the party guests
The souffles are amazingly simple to make:
- Add the mix and water together in a bowl and mix it on high for 4 minutes. I would definitely suggest a stand mixer, because you need to get a whole lot of air into these babies. The batter is extremely fluffy.
- The kit comes with paper ramekins, which are terrific. They are strong and hold up well. And seriously, who owns ramekins! You will have to butter and sugar the ramekins, which is probably the most time consuming step. You could use a cooking spray if you wanted.
- Pour the batter evenly among the ramekins. It’s gonna look like it will barely fit… keep piling it in!
- Sprinkle sugar on the batter. Don’t skip sugaring the ramekins or sprinkling the top with sugar. The mix itself does not have a lot of sugar, so this extra sweetness is really necessary.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 425° on a cookie sheet.
When the souffles are done, they will have risen about 2″ above the rim and are quite impressive. At this point, fill the centers with whip cream, chocolate sauce or some kind of topping. Unfortunately, no toppings come in the kit. I used cans of whip cream. I stuck the nozzle right into the middle of the souffle and sprayed until the whip cream started coming out the sides.
The instructions tell you to “serve promptly” and they are not kidding. Here’s my first batch after they cooled. They totally deflated! And in this case, presentation is very important.
At my party, we had 12 adults and 9 kids, so I used all the kits I was sent.
The kids were the first ones to go for them. They really loved squirting the whip cream in themselves and enjoyed pigging out!
But, what I found interesting was it was the adults that went for seconds!
Currently, Gourmet Souffle can only be bought online. The cost is $14.99 for a box of four 6-oz souffles. Shipping is an additional $5. My guests received buy one get one free coupons. But, if bought at the normal price, that’s $5 per souffle! They were good, but they were not that good. Especially since no toppings were included. It would be nice if they added a packet of chocolate sauce or a little tin of canned cherries to the kit.
Pros: Easy to make, impressive, a real crowd pleaser.
Cons: Must serve right out of the oven for best results, toppings not included, not available in stores, costs too much.
